2002 Luhrs 40 open yanmar diesels.

Thinking of purchasing a 40 open Luhrs with yanmar diesels. I know neither is top of line but price is reasonable. Any thoughts. especially re durabiltiy and fuel consumption of hi rpm engines?

Great value boat, it give a lot of function, minus some of the glitz. But after all we are out there to fish right?

I just bought a 2002 Luhrs 40 Open with 465 Yanmars. For the money it is a lot of boat. Be sure the previous owner took care of her. I had a few things come up that I did not expect but mostly due to poor preventive maintenance from the previous owner. The boat is solid and the engines are good albeit quite smokey. That is one of the downsides of the CXM Yanmar series. Besides being a decent off shore boat, she is comfortable to live aboard.
