If anyone out there is considering buying a Mercury 40hp efi outboard motor. I would say "buyer beware". I own a 2004 model year and it's had issues every year since I bought it including recalls and other "electrical" issues. I've contacted Mercury and they don't seem to care.
Consider any other manufacturer Evinrude, Yamaha, Suzuki. I've contated Mercury twice by email without hearing back.
BUY ANY OTHER BRAND!!!
