Marine Systems Specialist
Job Description


The client is an innovative industry leader in the sale and manufacture of small and large electrical motors, generators, and variable frequency drives has an opportunity for a self-motivated individual.

Position: Marine Systems Specialist

Position Summary
Review customer specifications and requirements to select and price equipment. Develop and oversee CLIENT and outside vendors for quotation requests and negotiation support. Make written and telephone quotations; answer customer inquiries; prepare sales proposals and assist Field Sales in sales presentations and closing orders; work within company guidelines regarding pricing, delivery, terms and conditions and product offerings; be the company’s marine specialist.

Position Responsibilities


Develop product knowledge for marine systems including, Generators, medium and low voltage switchboards, transformers, AC and DC drives, AC and DC motors, harmonic filters, motor control, relays, breakers, Power System Studies.
Provide technical assistance to application specialist, field sales, and customers in the selection, application, operation and maintenance of CLIENT products and services, particularly marine Systems
Develop and maintain a cooperative and credible working relationship with each Product Business Unit, Engineering, R&D and manufacturing departments within CLIENT.
Develop and maintain a cooperative and credible working relationship with outside vendors to assure CLIENT receives the best possible support and pricing for system proposals.
Assist CLIENT procurement in preparing technical vendor RFQ requests, vendor presentations to CLIENT and T&C review.
Collect, analyze, and utilize market intelligence data on customer needs, preferences and buying habits, as well as that of competitive manufactures.
Provide knowledge and technical support to CLIENT departments on ABS, USCG, Lloyds, DNV and other marine regulatory agencies and requirements.
Prepare quotations, proposals and presentations for customer RFQ’s.
Assist Field Sales with technical customer calls, presentations and order closing.
Create and maintain a data base of Marine accounts, potential projects, current projects and orders. Be aware of, and responsive to, market conditions and competitive practices. Communicate such information to the operating divisions
Manage expense allowances to obtain greatest return on investment and submit an expense report by the end of each month.
Review internally and with legal representation, Terms and Conditions, Letters of Credit, Progress Payments, Liquidated Damages and retentions. Be cognizant of antitrust laws and company practices. Provide recommendations to CLIENT management and prepare response to customer.
Prepare and execute consortium agreements, joint and severable and partnering agreements with other companies to support CLIENT strategic direction.
Incorporate the standards of excellence as outlined by CLIENT (pride, desire, teamwork, attention to detail, follow-through) into daily activities in order to create a total quality environment through personal commitment to excellence.
Perform other related additional responsibilities as assigned. Position Qualifications (Education / Experience Required)

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university (preferred degree in Electrical Engineering or Applied Science); and six to eight years related technical sales experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to travel worldwide
Training in Systems Integration, selling technical service or products, service or parts in Marine Industry
Computer knowledge required.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. PHYSICAL DEMANDS
